Top 10 activities for kids during lockdown

Lockdown is set to be a lot shorter than in the spring but with nights closing in, we’ve put together some super fun activities for the kids to enjoy at home this November:

1) Online karaoke

3) Board games

Scrabble, Monopoly, Risk, Cluedo. All so different but all so brilliant. If you haven’t played any of those with the kids, it’s time to make the introduction. They will love it.

4) Kids quiz

Taking inspiration from the late great Ronnie Corbett, here’s a great way of involving the kids in the weekly Zoom quizzes. Write a loads of questions (eg. who is your idol? What would you do if you were invisible for the day?), ask your kids for their answers and film it. Then write some multiple choice options and your quiz round is complete. 

5) Bake off at home

Inspired by Paul, Pru and the bake off crew, get the kids involved in a baking contest. Everyone enters one bake over November with everyone else judging each bake. Kids can have as much help as they need but they’ll love getting involved and perfecting that Victoria Sponge.

7) Who’s in the bag?

So simple but so fun. Everyone has ten small pieces of paper and writes down ten people that everyone has heard of. Anything from The Queen to your Great Aunt Doris will do. Put all the pieces in a bag, split into two teams and one describes the names to the other. Second round is one word, the third is charades. Hours of fun.

8) Gardening

It might be chilly outside but we all need that feel good fresh air. Whether it’s a bit of weeding or sweeping up those leaves, a great way of getting the kids outdoors.

9) Help your neighbours

So many lovely stories from earlier in the year of kids helping their neighbours. Dropping a few notes round to neighbours offering to help with shopping or running errands will be hugely appreciated by those who are living alone. A small gesture that will go a long way.

10) Movie night

A chance to get out some of the old classics that the kids will love. Start with Toy Story, then watch 2 and 3, then as we’re getting closer to December, it’ll be time for Home Alone, followed by maybe the best sequel ever...
